Inspired by Nature in Yosemite National Park
Lucas BB, 2010/05/01
A big part of Knee High Media, whether it be PAPERSKY, Mammoth or Plants + is Nature. Ever since the days of Tokion, our minds and therefore our media has always been inspired by Nature. We have consistently relied on nature as both a playground and school for higher learning. PAPERSKY has traveled the world and everywhere we go there is stunning nature. Some of the most amazing nature is absolutely nothing, like the Sahara Desert. Meanwhile on the other side of the coin, there is nature that is everything like Yosemite National Park in California, which is the featured destination of issue #32.
PAPERSKY has always subscribed to the idea that nature plays an indispensable role in forming cultures. Nature determines a region and people’s culinary culture, sleeping patterns and even what materials a culture uses to build their houses with. In short, nature is the very source, the fundamental point of inspiration for culture and that’s the message we set out to convey in this unique issue of PAPERSKY. We selected six intriguing artists from various generations who work in different mediums and for each artist we chose a trail in Yosemite which we felt conveyed the right mood or place of their artworks.
Our hope is that you will visit Yosemite yourself and hike, climb or bike the trails PAPERSKY has chosen and when doing so, share the artists’ inspiration from the bountiful nature that surrounds.
